Have you ever experienced a great expectation? A great expectation is another way to say hope. Hope is the feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen. The resurrecting hope found in Jesus Christ is the only hope you will ever need.

1 Peter 1:3-4 NLT: All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance-an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.

I want to share with you my personal testimony that relates to the scripture above. I was saved at the age of 18, but it wasn’t until I was 25 years old that I fully grasped the love of God. I realized that God loves the messed up, flawed, and broken me, enough to send His only Son to pay the price for my mistakes. The love that was shown through the crucifixion of Jesus was so overwhelming to me knowing that Jesus endured the worst torture and pain all because he wanted to mend the relationship between the human race and God. Jesus knew if he didn’t fulfill His mission, we would be separated from God forever. At that moment, when I fully understood d how much He loves me, I decided, if Jesus can endure this torture for me, the least I can do is be obedient to the Word of God that He preached, taught, and lived by while he was on earth. I also wanted to share His love with others. I praise God for His love and mercy that gives us the opportunity to be born again through Jesus Christ. Since God raised Jesus from the dead; we can live with the resurrecting hope that we will live forever with Him in heaven. Through the salvation of Jesus Christ, we have an inheritance that is kept in heaven for us as long as we have given our lives over to Christ.

The hope of our inheritance has played a huge role in my life. Especially during the time I cared for my earthly father. My Dad was sick for 17 months before he passed away. During the time of hard decisions, being put through the fire due to my dad’s declining health, God walked with us every step of the way. It was scripture that got me through the toughest days. Knowing that the punishment of sin is the earthly death, but through salvation we have an inheritance of living forever in heaven with Jesus was hopeful, comforting, and gave me peace. As I watched my dad take his last breath, the Holy Spirit filled the room and gave me complete confidence that my father had taken the hand of Jesus and was walking with Him into glory. In that moment of time my dad was receiving his inheritance that is promised to us through the resurrecting hope of Jesus Christ. I was filled with JOY as I watched my earthly father receive his healing right then and there. The comfort that I received from Jesus knowing that one day I will see my earthly father again and get to live with him forever in eternity is the absolute best hope, promise, and inheritance any person could receive. My inheritance is awaiting my arrival pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change, and decay. When you choose to live for Jesus the hope, peace, comfort, and blessings outreach anything this world has to offer. If you are living without hope, I beg you to dig in the word of God and learn the meaning of true love. This is the resurrecting hope that only comes through Christ Jesus.
