Holy Week Devotion - Saturday by Nina Payne

The Sabbath sun rose brightly and the day fell dark as pitch.

They were paralyzed, hiding in plain view. Their hearts and minds were running with fear, shame and confusion.

Fear of what might come, what might happen. Would they be hunted? Were they looking for them now? What about their families?

Ashamed of what had been their response or lack of response in the moment. But what could they have done?
Confused as to how quick the world had viciously lunged for the blood of a good man. Or was He? Was He good? Was He… read more

Preparing for the Passover - Matthew 26: 17-19

Jesus was not a helpless victim on that day in history and it would be a mistake for us to believe He was. As the disciples went to Jesus asking where to prepare the Passover meal, Jesus gave the instructions as to the person to see and the location to be provided. What we often miss is what Jesus told the disciples to say to the man. Jesus says, “Tell him, “The Teacher says: My time has come, and I will eat the Passover meal with my disciples at your home.”

Service Through Obedience

Exodus 19:5-"Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep my covenant, then you shall by My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine."

Throughout the book of Exodus as we see the account of God dealing with Pharaoh through His servant Moses, God continually tells Moses to say to the Pharaoh before each plague is unleashed to, “Let my people go so they may serve me!” What God is looking for from His people is for them to serve Him only.

The last judgement that the great I AM brought upon the… read more

We Celebrate Passover, Because He’s the Great—Passover! —By Pastor Howard.

Faith in God leads to passovers, and God’s passover’s are good! Israel traveled into Egypt after living in the promised land because it was part of God’s plan. Israel was persecuted, but the more ill will, the more they grew.

A few passovers I would like to mention—I call them God-overs. God saved every Hebrew from the visitation of death. His instructions to them was to ‘apply the blood from a spotless lamb’ and paint it on the door-post of every Hebrews house, and when I see the blood, I will… read more

Numbers 33:3

They departed from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the day after the Passover the children of Israel went out with boldness in the sight of all the Egyptians.

When I was a little girl, I would often take road trips with my grandparents over the summer. We’d go to Texas, Missouri, and Florida several times over the course of the years. I would often take a journal and camera to write about the places I’d see along the way, things we’d talk about during our trip, and memories of the family… read more

MARK 14:3-9 LUKE 7:36-39 JOHN 12:1-3

MATTHEW 26:6:13

I have never read a complete chronological Bible. I’m sure some of you have and are familiar with this type of Bible which rearranges the books of the Bible according to a calendar timeline. In researching for this devotion, I came across a site that paralleled the four calendars of the historical timeline of JESUS. The four calendars are The Creation Calendar, The Babylonian Calendar, The Jewish Calendar and the Roman Calendar. Down through the centuries, theologians and historians have researched these calendars as… read more
