The Inn Keeper

Some of the most precious moments on Christmas morning are the quiet reverential times when Howard reads from Luke chapter 2.  Pondering the Christmas story has always taken precedence over allowing our kids to rip open their gifts!

And suddenly there was with the angel, a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

”Glory to God, in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

In excitement the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go

Christmas

I saw a tik tok that said “I tripped and fell into a grave, when I reemerged, I found a new love for art.” I’ve tripped and fell into a grave as well. Most of us have. When I fell, I thought it was over. I kept digging the grave deeper for myself because I never thought there was any way of getting out. How could I?

The world no longer had a purpose for me because I was broken. I was so tired and weary. The Lord kept giving me the gift of being able to wake up

The CHRISTmas Search

When I was five years old, I was so excited when my dad told my brother and I, that we were going to drive down the street to see if we could see Santa Clause in the sky. I remember the excitement I felt as I looked up in the starlit sky hoping to see Rudolph with his bright red nose and his reindeer, a big red sleigh with Santa Clause in his big red suit and his long white beard. I could hear him yelling, “HO, HO, HO” as he flew by looking down at me w

Spirit of Christmas

Christmas is the most magical time of the year IF you acknowledge the true meaning of Christmas and recognize the spirit of joy and love during the Christmas season. Luke 1:14-15, He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. I love the Christmas season. Not so much of the hustle and bustle, or how some refer to it as x-mas instead of CHRISTmas. It warms my heart that true

Jesus Seekers

As Christmas approaches, I pray we can all be more like the three wise men (magi). They were the first Jesus seekers as it states in the book of Matthew.

Matthew 2:1-2,

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

The three wise men were on a mission. Whatever difficultie

THE FIRST FAMILY CHRISTMAS GATHERING

As far back as I can remember I have spent my 50+ Christmases surrounded by family. Christmas at both grandmothers as a child surrounded by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Later on, in my life at my mom’s for Christmas breakfast in our pajamas and then drop in on Christmas at my dad’s then off to Christmas dinner in the evening at my house with my children and grandchildren.  A lot of hurrying about trying to fit everyone in

I am pregnant and it's not your child!

I am pregnant and it's not your child!

I am pregnant and it's not your child! If this came from your fiancé, how would you respond? These words would pierce any man's heart, down to a gut-wrenching sickening.

This is what Joseph had to comprehend when Mary announced her miracle to her fiancé. I'm thinking that he found her story to be far out and unbelievable. And then Mary, as excited as she surely was, had to feel a bit of awkwardness when she told Joseph. But, when God

A Love That Remains

One of my favorite books in the Bible is First Corinthians chapter 13. This chapter has been

called a psalm of love and is admired both for its elevated thinking and its melodious praising.

My heart quickens within me as I read the beautiful expression for it brings back the memory of

the first time that I met this love and how it changed my life forever.

Growing up with my father in the absence of my mother was all but loving. There was never a day met wit

Isaiah 61:1

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the LORD has anointed me to preach good tidings to the meek; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD...

THE GIFT OF LIFE

ISAIAH 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, to us a son in given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Each year that passes it seems that more and more people forget the true meaning and importance of Christmas. The celebration of the birth of Jesus is becoming more and more secularized in our country as businesses and large corporations call the day X

John 1:1-5

“In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through Him, and nothing was created except through Him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and His life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”

I was raised on a farm, so I learned at an early age that animals are not dumb nor stupid. They are not to be mishandled or abused. A very smart farmer told me one time that a person can learn more from an old cow by sitting on a feed bucket and watching them than he can by feeding them with a bucket every day and then going home. Cattle, horses, donkeys, sheep, and goats, as well as dogs and cats, can warn you of a predator that's close by or of an impending violent storm

The Cradle and The Cross

This year, some of our North Georgia Theological Seminary Students have been asked to write a devotional for the Christmas season. We hope you enjoy their insights!

As I was given the assignment to write a devotional for this season, I knew immediately that it would be a challenge for me. It is hard for me to write about the birth of Jesus without writing about the death and resurrection of Jesus. The cradle and the cross have a straight line between them. Jesus was born to
