Jesus is our model

I John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

After listening to a sermon given by Joe Peabody, another way to phrase this verse is: “If Laura confesses her sins, He (God) is faithful and just to forgive me of my sins, and to cleanse me from all unrighteousness.”

I am so glad to be a Christian.  Knowing that I fail at it every day.  As my principal says, “I have no filter.”  I say things without thinking.  I have gotten better over the years, but I still fail.  Being a Christian doesn’t mean I am perfect, by no means.  Only Jesus is perfect.  Jesus come to earth to model to us on how to live according to God’s will.  Jesus did just that.  From the moment he was born he knew what was going to happen, yet he still had the choice not to follow God’s plan.  Jesus was a true and faithful servant.  That is what me (as a Christian) strives to do.  Even though I fail everyday; I am thankful, I have a God that is faithful and just.  All I have to do is ask for forgiveness, and I am forgiven.  

Are you conflicted today, if so, pray in Jesus name and ask forgiveness.  If you do not know Jesus, seek out who he is.  Build a relationship with him.  Strive to be like him.  

Dear Heavenly Father, my heart is heavy.  I have done things I should not have done.  I confess these things to you and ask for forgiveness.  Lighten my load, you have forgiven me, I have proof in your word in I John 1:9.  Help me die to self and become an empty vessel so that I may be more like you.  In Jesus name, Amen.
