Daniel Serves Faithfully
Lesson Summary
Although he was a captive in a foreign land, Daniel continued to serve the Lord by faithfully serving whichever king was in power. The book of Daniel reveals that he ministered to Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzar,
Darius the Mede, and Cyrus. He likely also served under Evil-merodach, who ruled in the time between Nebuchadnezzar and Belshazzar, though the only mention of him in the Bible is in reference to the release of Jehoiachin (Jeremiah 52:31).
We have seen how God blessed Daniel with the kings’ favor and the ability to interpret dreams. It was through this ability that God made himself known to the pagan kings. Now let’s look at Daniel’s
circumstances from a different angle, paying special attention to whom Daniel served, how he served, and why he served in this way.

Memory Verse
Review the memory verse with your family.
Isaiah 30:18 Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.
Prayer
Thank God for his attributes—that he is holy, righteous, and just, and yet also loving and merciful. Ask him to reveal any idolatry in your heart— anything that you have placed above him in importance in your life.
Ask him for the grace to live a life pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work.
